I didn’t realize this was supposed to be an RC vehicle when I purchased it – was really just trying to find something my three year old could take apart and put back together. We got the fire truck version but I bet they are all three pretty similar.The pros: you can take it apart and put it back together in 4 different configurations. It came completely put together in one configuration (the pumper truck), which made it a little easier to change around than if it had come completely in pieces. Instructions are picture only, and in black and white, but work well enough to get to the end result you desire.Cons: just one big one: it didn’t work in the RC mode at first. We put batteries in both the drill/remote and the rig itself. The drill would blink when you put it on RC mode but nothing else happened. I decided to take the whole thing apart. I took the front and back tiny screws out, took the battery door back off, and then took out a fourth tiny screw in the battery compartment to get the chassis apart. Once I did that, I was looking at a circuit board and a bunch of wires. Since I know nothing about electronics, my electrician husband looked at it. There is a missing wire connecting the two batteries to each other. Essentially the entire circuit was open because of the missing wire. Hubs replaced this (see picture, with random bit of wire stuck behind the blade of the connector for the battery). Now it works perfectly.So if you want the remote control component to work, either stick a bit of wire in it. If you aren’t comfortable doing that (I would not have been) and don’t live with an electrician, I would recommend taking the toy to a nearby technical school that has an electronics course of study and asking someone to fix it. Would be a quick fix with a bit of wire and a soldering iron.
